Home...

I like the song "Home" sung by Michael Buble since the first time I heard. Well, he is not the original singer of the song while many other singers sang this song before. I just like the melody and the meaningful lyrics of the song. Other than that, I like his voice too! He is an amazing singer and with his voice, he is such a big STAR since he joined the industry. He has sold more than 25 million albums worldwide!!
For me, HOME is a place with the people you love and the people whom love you too. When you come back, you always feel like there are hands always welcome you back. Also, there are things waiting for you to share and enjoy together. The place makes you feel warm and relaxed anytime you step in the "box". You should have many belongings at home and every single belonging has its own story behind. You appreciate every single thing and people at home. This is HOME for me...

What about you? What is a HOME?

Say Goodbye to Pudu Jail (1895-2010)

Does the pictures above look familiar for you? Yes!! It's our Pudu Jail located along Jalan Pudu.

I bet you must have seen it since you were very young, right?

Started from 21st June 2010, Pudu Jail will be only in our memory as our government decided not to keep this heritage site of our country, it is more than 100 years!!

Do the calculation by yourself please, 2010-1895=??

YES!! It is 115 years old!!

The Pudu Jail wall, stretching about 300 meters, was demolished at 10pm on the 21st June, 2010. The wall paintings are painted by the prisoners years ago and the paintings are turning into small pieces like a puzzle. What a sad thing, right?

You must be wondering why the heck the government decided to demolish a heritage site of the country, right? Well, I couldn't figure it out neither. Maybe they just feel like it looks ugly in the middle of the city? But I believe that Pudu Jail used to be one of the tourist attractions in the city.

However, we couldn't do anything about the decision of government. Pudu Jail will just stay in our memory now. Found a video which captured and witnessed the demolition of Pudu Jail at 10pm, 21st June 2010.

Rest In Peace, Pudu Jail

Decision...

... is always a very difficult thing to make. Don't you agree? When you come to a point which you need to make a decision out of so many choices, it is always hard to choose. You might be wondering which one is the best for you and what are the pros and cons of the options you have in front of you.

Well, normally what would you do? Just try first and see how things go? Or analyse of the options and see which one will be the best suit yourself? For me, I will see and think which one will be the best for myself and for my future. I will ask myself these questions:

What way this path will bring me to?
Will I be success in this?
What are the good and bad things?
Where will I be in the next 5-10 years?
Why 'A' but not 'B'?
How to reach our goals?

I would still back to the basic what I learnt in the school, which is the questions of Ws and H..... Don't you think that these words are really useful when you need to make decisions? However, we still make some wrong decisions in our life.

We are human, we make mistakes and THAT'S LIFE!! We learn from mistakes and do not scare to fail, and we need to stand up again even though it might be a big failure.

Bees attack South Africa!!

OMG!! There are bunches of bees attack South Africa!!

Well, have you been watching FIFA 2010? If yes, you must realised that the background sound throughout every match, right? And do you know what sound is that? Bees flying over the stadiums? Nah!! How can be every game has bees flying over?!?!

Just in case you do not know what kind of sound is that, let me tell you here.

The audiences make the noise?

Hmmm..... They are the one who make the noise, but with the thing on their hands. Look like a horn, right? For your information, this horn named vuvuzela. Vuvuzela is the one which make this annoying noise throughout EVERY game!! Don't you feel that it's annoying and have lost the atmosphere of soccer games?

I does!! Even though I am not a big fan of soccer, but I still get annoyed by this sound made by vuvuzela. They even thought of banning vuvuzela for this FIFA 2010, but at the end they didn't because they said this is the "culture" of the host country. Well, as I know, it's not originated from South Africa!! The very first time vuvuzela used was in 1970s by Mexicans. Vuvuzela only became popular in South Africa since 1990s.

It's freaking 20 years after!!

And you know what? It causes NOISE POLLUTION too!!

Closer look of vuvuzelas!!

Happy Rice Dumpling Festival!!

What is rice dumpling? In Chinese, we called rice dumpling as "zong zi". I believe that most of the non Chinese have no idea what exactly is rice dumpling, right? Click here for more about "zong zi".

Also, Rice Dumpling Festival also known as Dragon Boat Festival. Traditionally, Chinese eat rice dumpling only during this festival. But, today we can get rice dumplings almost all year long. Normally there are many different type of rice dumplings because of the ingredients used to different recipes.

I just had great yummy rice dumpling last week when I went back to hometown. Especially made by my lovely grandma. Her rice dumplings still the BEST!! Well, Chinese have a saying: "The older is the ginger, the spicier it gets!!". I totally agreed with this saying... :D

Well, I hope that now you know more what is rice dumpling a.k.a. "zong zi".

Happy Rice Dumpling Festival!!

How green are you?

Green has became a hot and popular topic which discussed by everyone. Everybody says "go green", "let's save the environment" etc etc...... But, ask yourself, how green you really are?? Below is my guideline to categorize and identify yourself.

LIGHT GREEN

You are aware of the environmental issues around us and started to do something small and simple to show that you are green. For example:
- Cut down the usage of plastic bag
- Cut down the usage of paper
- You have at least ONE recycle bag and use it once a while
- Use public transport once a while

GREEN

You are aware of the environmental issues and have already been doing things on this issue since some time ago. For example:
- You have MORE than ONE recycle bag and use them quite often
- Use public transport more often than you drive
- Try to educate people around you to go green
- Save energy whenever you can (switch off when you are not using)

DARK GREEN

You are totally into green!! No matter whatever you do, environment always comes in the first place. You have already put in efforts for long time. For example:
- You do not use plastic bag at all
- No printing unless it is necessary
- Use public transport only
- Whatever you do, always think about the effects on environment
- You are vegan/vegetarian

Well, you guys must be wondering how green am right?? Honestly, I believe that I am in between LIGHT GREEN and GREEN. Why?? Because I have done enough to be "light green" but still not enough to be "green". So, I'm on my way and becoming GREEN!!!

What about you??

Note: Please be reminded that above are just my opinions and some examples for you.

Refuse - Avoid purchase of environmental burdensome materials whenever possible

The BALL.....

The BALL........ is just around the corner!! But, what else do you know except the teams and the hunks on the field?? Here are few things you have to know even you might not be a soccer fan (just like me!! LOL) :

1) THE EMBLEM

The emblem of 2010 FIFA World Cup- South Africa shows a player who is doing "Bicycle Kick". It is designed by Gaby de Abreu from Switch Design, Johannesburg. The colours used in the emblem are the colours of South Africa flag.

2) THE POSTER

2010 FIFA World Cup- South Africa poster is designed the designer from Switch Design. It is a simpler design compare with the emblem design. It is a simple combination of the map of South Africa, portrait and a soccer ball. And of course the 5 colours of South Africa are used in the poster too!!

3) THE MASCOT

"Zakumi" (born 16 June 1994- age 15) is an anthropomorphised leopard with green hair. His name comes from "Za", the international abbreviation for South Africa, and "kumi", a word that means "ten" in various African languages. Zakumi's official motto is: "Zakumi's Game is Fair Play."

4) THE MATCH BALL

The match ball is manufactured by Adidas and named "Jabulani", which means "bringing joy to everyone" in IsiZulu. The number eleven plays a prominent role in the new technologically advanced ball: it is the eleventh World Cup match ball made by the German sports equipment maker; it features eleven colours, one for each player on the pitch; and there are eleven official languages in South Africa.

5) THE THEME SONG

The theme song is sung by Somalian-born, Canadian-based hip-hop artist K'Naan and David Bisbal which named "Wavin' Flag". Click here to listen to the song.

Note: However, is there any different between "theme song" and "official song"?? Because I also found that the "official song" is "Waka Waka" which sung by the famous singer- Shakira. Click here for the official song.

6) THE STADIUMS

There are a total of 10 stadiums will be used for the 2010 FIFA World Cup- South Africa. It says that this breaks the record of the most stadiums used for a FIFA World Cup until today.

Is technology that important??

View Image

Technology, is it a NEED or WANT for us today?? I personally think that it has change from WANT to NEED, I bet most of us can't live without technology. Start from the very basic thing such as TV, mobile phone, internet etc. Have you tried not to touch one of them in a day?? If not, WELCOME TO THE BIG FAMILY!!

To be honest, I really can't live without any of them!! Don't you think that it is really a bad habit? Nowadays, everyone says that "going green" to save our planet for the next generation so that they will be able to enjoy what we are enjoying today. But tell me how many of us are really putting in effort on this issue???

What to do in my coming "new life"??

It has been a while since I blog the last time. Suddenly feel like blogging again here. It was kinda a sleepless night few nights ago, then not sure what make me thinking what I should I do after completing my bachelor degree in Marketing. Follow are the idea I thought of:

1) Join the corporate world: It might be the safest industry to go in but it might be boring for me. However, it is still an option!!

2) Join a magazine or event company: It sound fun huh?? But, I know I will be busy like hell if in this industry. Maybe need to work over the weekends too?? The life of corporate and event/magazine would be totally different!!

3) Start my own magazine!! : I know, I know what you are thinking. This is not easy, right?? However, just ideas if I have the knowledge and it won't be happened in short term. I think this really need the experiences and connections of people first. What magazine?? See below......

i) An environmental issues magazine: I even thought of the name of GREENize... LOL... I thought of this idea because I believe that there is no such magazine in Malaysia yet. As we all know, going green is the new business opportunity!! Also, Malaysians really need to start to aware about the environmental issues of our home- EARTH now.

ii) A men lifestyle magazine: Name?? If really possible, I would like to name this magazine-PLUs. This magazine basically targeting men ONLY. It might be not a big different than the men magazines which are in the market now. But as we know, men are also one of the biggest market to target now. They are so many metrosexual men who really take care of themselves so much today!!!

So, all these options always in my list!!!! Cheers~~
